This is a nice pair of large and heavy 1/2 pint sauce or gravy boats. Made from solid sterling silver, as can be seen with the Sheffield assay office hallmark, they date from 1928. These are of a size a scale that is most unusual for this period. The combined weight is approximately 560g.
The makers mark is W&H as shown, which is for the top quality maker Walker & Hall of Sheffield. Each boat is 18.5 cms long from handle to spout, 12 cms in height at the handle and 10 cms at the widest part of the body. They have a nice look and feel and are both in overall excellent condition for their age with and look like they have never been used much at all. I would like to point out that on the inside of one, at the front foot area, it looks like a circular bruise which I want to point this out. There is no sign of this on the outside and they both sit as expected.Do remember these are old pieces. So please do not expect it to look like new.
In saying that, the silver polishes to a high gloss shine and they look and display very well. This would make a lovely quality and unusual gift for someone, which can still be admired and enjoyed today. It looks great on display or for use on the dining table. Any questions please do ask.
